Students are invited to nominate a site of cultural, natural or built heritage as being historically significant. This may be a building, street, structure, landmark, tree etc.The competition is open to all South Australian students.

 

The competition will be judged in 4 categories:

·       Primary Heritage Trustee (individual or small group entry R-7)

·       Secondary Heritage Trustee (individual or small group entry 8-12)

·       Primary Heritage Trustee Class (whole class entry R-7)

·       Secondary Heritage Trustee Class (whole class entry 8-12)

Competition entries may be presented in any format including written, audio/visual, digital or construction (model, diorama etc.)

Students are asked to select a site and locate and use primary and/or secondary sources to research the heritage and historical significance of the site.

Entries must address at least two of the following criteria:

The site illustrates aspects of cultural history (which can be specific to the history focus being studied. Eg. World War II, colonial history, community history, parents’ &grandparents’ childhood etc.).

·The site holds information that helps our understanding of the past.

·The site is part of a rare or highly significant group of places or objects.

·The site illustrates a particular creative technical achievement.

·The site has a strong or special association with a particular community or cultural group.

·The site has a strong association with the life or works of a significant person or group.

All entries must be received by 5pm on 30th September 2016.

 


One winner and two runner-ups will be selected in each category.

Results will be announced on HTASA and National Trust website on 18/11/2016

Winners and runner-ups will be invited to an award ceremony at Ayers House, North Terrace.

 Prizes:

· Primary and Secondary Heritage Trustee (medal and family membership (one year) to the National Trust SA)

· Primary and Secondary Heritage Trustee Class (class trophy and excursion to Ayers House; does not include transport but does include entrance fee for class)

·  All entrants will receive a participation certificate
